beautiful modal writing and playing...in a Jazztimes interview Bobby said to try playing your expressive music without your instrument - try to reach someone with the intensity of the feeling (I’m paraphrasing) and THEN pick up your instrument. He was a deep deep thinker with a lot to say about how to approach music. I recommend the interview — even if you’re not a jazz player, even if you’re sampling for your own genre. This track reminds me of the moods captured in the movie, “Round Midnight.” So worth watching, even if you’re not into jazz. Hutcherson plays Ace in it and the original music in it is by Herbie Hancock.
