"he just about sets a record here for ignoring original chords and melody" This is proably meant as a negative comment. But this is no written down classical piece of music and it was not uncommon to do so I doubt he set any record with changing chord progression,lyrics etc. Elvis did it with Baby lets playhouse & many other songs & bluesmusicians did it all the time.As long as it turns into good music I do not care:-)

He made this song his own. I have to admid I like this raw cover even more than the Louis Jordan classic. Maybe because I never heard this song done this before but 1000 times in the Louis Jordan style (no fault of Jordan of course)

Buster Brown is the Truth. My dad saw Buster Brown perform back in the 60s at Ben’s Cotten club on Frelinghuysen Avenue in Elizabeth New Jersey. He said the whole place was rocking. Wish I could’ve been there. RIP BUSTER BROWN.
