Sublime. Mesmerizing. I heard this music for the first time when I was twelve years old, and thirty-six years have passed and it still gives indescribable sensations.
Magnificent piece of music. My mother adored it. She had 3 grown up sons and always dreamed of having a daughter. At 45 she gave birth to twin daughters, I came first and was awarded the name Olwyn - she always said she got her dream of Olwyn (she spelt it differently!) And of course I was accompanied by my beautiful sister Helen. We played this piece at her funeral when she died at the grand old age of 90. We will always treasure this beautiful piece of music
This composer wrote the Theme from The Apartment, a giant instrumental hit in 1961. This piece sounds very similar - the chord changes, modulations, crescendos, etc. You could insert this in place of the Apartment Theme in the movie and few would notice. All the elements are there!
When I was 15 yrs old i sang with the Bordens Dairy Ladies Choir in Toronto in those days I was a Coloratura soprano and could reach very high notes The choir master Mr.Albert Green brought in two new pieces of music which I had never before heard but found very beautiful to sing and to listen to Dream of Olwen was one of them and Romany Life was the other Dream was always very peaceful and powerful and Romany Life was very exciting and lively although I went on to sing in many venues through the years these two pieces of music remain in my mind and my thoughts to this day and I was so pleased to be able to hear them again after all these years as I turn 85 next month You seldom hear such beautiful music these days and it is such a treat to the ears.
Wonderful, short piece. My parents had a recording of it back in the 1960s; loved it, along with the Warsaw Concerto. Thanks for posting it, and for posting a picture of the composer.
Absolutely adore this piece of music. Watched the film with my Mum when I was very young, I’m now 71 and I still think it’s spectacular... it touches my heart.
I first heard this over the loud speaker at Pontins Holiday Camp in Wales about 60 years ago.. I still love it. Heard it again today after all those years
