I chatted with Dino backstage at a gig in Westport, CT, sometime around the summer of 1977. I asked him if he still remembered the song, and he started singing the first few lines. I wonder how many other people alive actually heard him sing it?
When the WIND that left us here....!It was Jesse Colin Young who inserted the Second Coming into what was a perfect universal vision of peace.Jesse’s voice and engagement with the words IS incomparable - and we would not have had this anthem back in the day without him (Carpenters, anyone ? ;->), but Jesse was a Christian - more overtly later in his solo career - and he qualified that vision. The author’s performance is an insane pastiche of styles, speeds, and rhythms. And he wrote a perfect secular hymn. Props.
