Saw ELP many times. Their music, theatrics and sheer musicianship was a joy to behold. Not a 4/4 drum machine and pit-a- pat lyrics for ELP. Talent, hard work and magnum opus throughout. OK program rock was a bit OTT but these guys could play their instruments. Sadly not so common these days but there is hope out there.

The incredible drumming is what elevates this song from great to an absolute classic. I love harmonizing with a great melody, and this is a great song for that, but when you isolate the drum part in your head (if you can do that), and go along for the ride, it becomes evident very quickly that the drummer is the genius here! What’s really funny is, I’ve never heard people remark on this. How strange is that???
