I have an old "How to play guitar" book by Happy but never heard him play before now. A fine performance: thanks for posting. Now I really want to hear him play "Buckets of Rain" (a tantalising end to the vid...)

Wish there was an old version of "Buckets of Rain" on You Tube. Or anything else off that album.

An American treasure! I only discovered his music and instructional DVDs a few years ago, but his teaching has blessed my family 100 fold. His performances are as sharp as ever and his teaching is inspired.

I knew about him when he released "American Stranger" album, which included tabs on the record sleeve. I saw him play in San Sebastian (Spain), circa 1978, I think... By the way, he broke a string on the first chord he played. He replaced it on-the-fly and he gave a wonderful performance. On this version, he plays differently on some passages, with smart alterations. Yet the overall speed is a bot fast, to my personal taste, since it affects the phasing and its message. Now we all grew older but I still see him as the young American guy on the "American Stranger" album, front picture, in his striped shirt...;-)
