I spontaneously bought tickets to « Wicked » for my best friend and I when it was just in previews, with the entire original cast—an unusual move because even though I am a singer myself I didn’t make seeing Broadway shows until the last 2 or 3 years I lived in New York; little did I know that it would become such a classic hit, and how lucky I would feel to have been among the first to see it, in its earliest incarnation. I must be one of the few who didn’t know that she sang the voice of Elsa; unlike « Wicked » I came very late to the « Frozen » party, and it wasn’t until I saw her live that I made the connection. When I first heard « Brave » (on the jukebox in a crazy little dive gay bar in Albany one rainy night on the way from Michigan to Provincetown , RI) I just assumed that it was from a movie or musical; although it is a stand-alone wonder, I think it truly begs to be part of a soundtrack
