To me this is the definition of awe; I love the orchestral and ELP renderings as well, not very familiar with the original piano version from Musrgsky, but since I heard this for the first time as back music for a scientific documentary that narrated the trip from the Voyager prove to Jupiter and beyond this has lived with me as awe itself and it was my introduction to the clasics.

In electronice music there are only a few real pioneers. Vangelis, Jarre, Kitaro, Tangerine Dream, Schulze and Tomita. HIs works are really unique

I echo the comments of j swain below. I had just begun college and a long journey through classical music that forever changed my life. Tomita took traditional orchestrations and "stretched" them, sometimes to obnoxious excess, and sometimes to a beauty after which one cannot return solely to the orchestra without something missing.

Memmories... having gpt my first modular synthesiser in 1978 and wanting to be as good as Tomita playing this.... never achevied my goal :(
