I just read that back in 1964 Colombia Records refused to release 2 of his songs because they considered them "too controversial". Marty was a Conservative and the songs criticized the anti-Vietnam war protesters and reflected his opposition to Socialism & Communism. However, protest songs were quite OK. Seems the media even back then were on the Left.
