I always liked both artists but could have been a little “sour grapes” from MC Shan. Maybe inside he thought LL used part of his beat, made it better and that record was more popular than his:) I don’t know. However, even back then hip hop artists used other’s beats, tracks, rhythms, etc for their own. Just look at Wrappers Delight and Chic’s Good Times. As far as just the beats though....Public Enemy (Flava Flav) said ‘You can’t copyright a beat’ although that was a few years later. Anyway beats get recycled like it or not. Plus this incident inspired Shan to make this record so maybe he should have thanked LL for that:) Just kidding but the competition can push you to do more.
