How am I just discovering them? This is amazing

Here’s my view of the video:Basically the band is trying to keep the two people in the video together, (much like Back To The Future)which isn’t interesting without context. So here’s where it gets interesting. The singer and guitar player of the band are brothers and the two people dancing in the video represent their mom and dad. Their dad died 5 years ago and it was a really tough time for them (their previous album Pale Horses addresses this more directly). 1984 and Room 101 tie in here. Their greatest fear was that of losing their father and they are performing in the band to in some way keep their father alive and to forestall facing the reality of his passing. The weight of this is eventually too much and they have to face the reality that he’s no longer here anymore which leads to them disbanding both in the video and in real life with them putting out their final album.

The singer even has the cut hand. Attention to detail. Love it.

This song makes me feel so much.
