I always tell the story of how I saw Fred play when I was in high school at a local ballroom circa 1970-71. it was very up close and personal and after he played I walked up to him and asked him if I could buy him a shot...he agreed and I bought him a shot of whiskey. RIP Fred!

my dad past away a few years ago and I was listening to this tune at the time. I tuned the guitar to d and started playing with Fred. it was stuck in that tuning for several years. i was finnally able to write a song for him but in reality it was just this song. Mr mcdowell , thank you,!

Fred was re-discovered in 1960. Although he had not recorded, he had of course performed, but only locally to his Mississippi home.
