Graham Gouldman coming through real clear hear. Digging that sitar10cc forever!

I never would have seen this if not for a Graham Goldman interview.He was involved with US  Bubble Gum behind the scenes.

Essentially the first 10cc song.

- Graham Gouldman says in an interview : " Sausalito " was him and some session musicians, recorded in New York before he split with Kasenetz-Katz.

For a song by "Ohio Express", this is pretty good.

This song should have charted much higher. I mean if Yummy Yummy was top 10 material, then why not this?

By 1969, all four members of the original 10cc line-up were working together regularly at Strawberry Studios. Around the same time, noted American bubblegum pop writer-producers Jerry Kasenetz and Jeffry Katz of Super K Productions came to England and commissioned Gouldman to write and produce formula bubblegum songs, many of which were recorded at Strawberry Studios, and were either augmented or performed entirely by varying combinations of the future 10cc line-up. Among the recordings from this period was "Sausalito", a No. 86 US hit credited to Ohio Express and released in July 1969. In fact the song featured Gouldman on lead vocal, and vocal and instrumental backing by the other three future 10cc members.

It never did become the place to go to, though..

This is the very first Ohio Express song I respect. Good stuff!

10cc by any other name...cant hide that Mancunian accent. Dont ask GG about this song... dont like them. Early attempts at a certain kind of vibe...10cc could do any style you asked them to try.

To me it sounds more like Lol Creme singing this.
