I was at UB from 1960 to 1964. Listened to this song every night at midnight. After it played..the DJ would say " goodnight Buffalo and remember..the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world " WNIA was a great radio station.
Update! WNIA is gone. However WECK, which replaced WNIA, has now gone back to a 24/7 Classic Rock 50s 60s 70s format and at midnight plays this Richard Maltby - Midnight Mood theme song again!
My music teacher (Max Herman) at Emerson high school in Buffalo wrote out this music so I could fulfill my wish to play a trumpet solo at my 1967 graduation. I still play it now in 2020.
If you remember "Midnight Mood", you should also remember their poem "High Flight".
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings...
Great memories from this radio station.
This was a musical comforter from WNIA back when I was growing up. Also loved Kenny Ball with "Midnight in Moscow" Two great selections from a station operating way down below the powerof the 50k station.
living behind the NFT stop over in the Kensington Apts in the 60s.. listened to this as a kid on my parents HiFI... listening to the busses come and go...
Ahhhhh.... I could be content to play this style in a big band for the rest of my life! I sure miss playing in a big band... no options where I live...
