One of my favourite Dubliners songs. Back in the 70s my father bought several of their LPs but I found most of the songs repetitive and top-heavy, i.e. all instruments playing the tune with little genuine accompaniment. My opinion changed for the better when I heard the LP "Plain and simple", the first track of which is "Donegal Danny". For the first time I heard some genuine instrumental accompaniment with more reflective and less repetitive songs. All in all, a great improvement
54 now and been listening to the Dubs all my life, I heard their beautiful songs from the cot when I was a baby after mum Dad and Mum had been to see them in concert with Pat Jennings and other Irish footballers in the 60s. The greatest band ever such beautiful music God Bless to those Dubliners who are dean and gone
