First time that I heard HR, I almost wrecked my car. A very deep jazz player, he made a lot of radio friendly 2 to 3 minutes recordings that sold well. He was a LA first call studio stud, on TV and movie sountracks as well as a lot of rock, pop and jazz recordings.

He was indeed a sought-after session man. I think that he and Glenn Campbell probably were always bumping into each other, getting from one studio date to the next. For those who may not know, Glen Campbell, like Mr. Roberts, was seated in the Pantheon of studio back-up musicians, both in Hollywood and in Nashville. Yes, THAT Glen Campbell. Thanks very much for uploading some real treasures, CoverHaven!

In an interview in Guitar Player magazine 1980 H.R. says he was living like a hippy, having not washed for weeks, when he made this album and was literally DIRTY.
