The best ever era for British Jazz....Tubby Hayes & Joe Harriott were more imaginative than many USA musicians at that time.
Their names should be synonymous with Parker & Stitt.
Central London was alive with great music during those days.

i only really knew of bills music from the wonderful "red bird" album,sailing thro the island seas,gliding on his vibes...!roasting in his hot sun and wafted in the breeze.....
sounds like parker in the carribean! lol! very ahrd to keep away from parker especially on alto sax as well as re defining be bop! very difficult not to sound like charlie parker.
I was at the Flamingo, a magic place The couriers Tony Cromby Don Rendel , Jack Parnell Phil Seaman Don Weller, Suits made at Sam Arkus, Had some great times down the club.
I used to go dancing at the Hammersmith Palaice then to an all night session at the the Flamingo in Wardour Street. Fortified by a salt beef sandwich and hamisher cucumber.
Those were the days. Tony Kinsey group sounds even better than before.
What wonderful memories evoked whilst
